The gate opened to the arena. A sharp pain was felt upon his rump. With a squeal, his form bucked and galloped through the iron gate into the circle arena. There he met his worst fear.... MAN. Every specimen circled him around the bars. His ears pricked up in fright as his orbs bulged with his flaring nostrils. His front pins were lowering his front just slightly of the central mark and slightly apart than normal. Then the noise started.
Alright Ladies and Gentlemen. This next lot is an amazing opportunity to own a purebred RARE black Arabian Stallion. Imported from Arabia itself. They call him the Black Knight... Khoal for short. He's a spunky buy, very energetic and a cheeky fella! How about we start the bids at $4000? This Stud is worth more than this people! Im giving you a good offer!
Men shouting numbers, boards with marking were flying up. Khoal panicked and reared, kicking those beautiful pins into the air but the noise just seemed to grow louder. He springed into a canter around the auction ring, looking for the way out but the gate was now locked. Was there any way out for him? Would he get over his fear from the men in his home country who beat him for even breathing?

Even though she wasnt a fan of the delicate Arabians this creature was in need of help. And Robyn could clearly see it. She hated seeing horses in pain and misery and she always tried to help all equine overcome their phobias. She knew this creature would be a fight, especially with all the men who came here daily, either to buy and sell again or to buy for meat. I'll give you $6,000! she yelled throwing up her arm as she stood on the fence. She knew some person would scream out another amount. This was a battle. And indeed a man did step up to the challenge I'll pay 7,000! with a smirk of pride and arrogance smeared on his face. Robyn looked over to the man. Then Ill pay 10,000! Once she spoke a deathly silence fell upon the crowd

The auctioneer looked at the deathly silenced crowd. Alright... $10,000. Going once... Going Twice... SOLD TO THE BEAUTIFUL LASS O'ER THERE! Come get your prize Lil' Lady! A man approached Robyn and gave her an authentic arabian halter. There you go... Im not going in there! Im not crazy!
Khoal was starting to sweat from the fear. He was darting around the arena until it fell silent. He snorted and stood against the bars at the back, keeping an eye on every man there. He spotted the young woman and whinnied. He liked women. Infact a woman saved him from his peril until he was stolen and placed in this horrible place for a price! He started to relax a little as people started to head to another ring, his elegant tail swishing from side to side... awaiting his destiny...

Robyn sighed with relief, but then tensed as a man gave her a haltar and claimed it was her death contrat shed be signing when she entered the ring. But she looked at the man and smiled Cheers mate. But being crazy is what makes life fun she replied before climbing over the fence gently and landing inside the arena. She shuffled her backpack slightly and lowered the haltar to her side. She looked to the stallion and aorund looking at some men who wanted to stay and witness the entertainment of a lady as youthful and fragile looking as Robyn to gain the respect of a wild fiery spirt that possessed this stallion.
Its orite lad...Im not going to hurt you she spoke softly as she turned her side to the horse and lowered her head gently. A few men laughed quietly. She probably did look ridiculous but it was a powerful gesture that would hopefully and most likely gain the Arabian's trust instead of flying hands and lashing ropes. C'mon boy...come to me... she whispered as she looked to the ground

Khoal's back was still against the bars but orbs followed the girl as she dropped into the arena. He snorted and snapped his head up as he heard the laughing... the evil chants of MAN. He paced along one side before doubling up on himself. His orbs never left the girl's figure. He saw she was calm and still - this intrigued him. Why was she not chasing him with lashing ropes and those funny things they put on your head? He took a few steps forward towards her, curiosity taking over caution. He continued until he was merely feet away from her and elongated his long ebon neck towards her, still keeping distance so he could flee if any danger occured...

Robyn smiled softly as the frightened creature approached her cautiously. Thats a good lad. See, how can I possibley hurt you ay? she whispered. She raised her hand slowly and offered her hand to the creature, still keeping her eyes on the ground. Go on...Im not scared and neither should you be she spoke. She had a half a packet of peppermints in her pocket, and slipped them out with her other hand Maybe a little persuasion is what you need...you like mints? she whispered as she held the packet in her hand and tore the wrapping with her teeth to get the mint loose. She wouldnt give it to him yet, not until he was comfortable being close to her body.

Khoal smelt the mints and his ears pricked up instantly. In his home country he was barely fed hay but once he was rescued by that kind woman, he got the taste for peppermint! His nostrils flared, hoovering the sweet smell. He lipped at her arm, almost asking for one. He took another step forward and another until his neck was at a comfortable length and he was standing directly infront of her...

Robyn slowly riased her hand to touch the magnificant horse to reassure him. It was then she gently stood to her normal height and turn to face him, Good boy. You can trust me she spoke as she took the mint out of the packet and held it in the palm of her hand and held it to his muzzle. Yeah, you like these huh? Most horses like you do... she spoke. As the stallion stood by Robyn, she kept stroking and rubbing her hand over his neck and chest to get her scent on him so he would adapt and become familiar with her. As she did this she looked to the man who had driven this horse out. What did you say his name was?

The man was leaning over the bars watching her. That's a mighty fine talent you got there Missy. His name's Khoal but we've cursed him here as The Black Knight. He's been here a while... noone's been able to tame him and have claimed their money back!
Khoal felt the mint on his lips and his crunched on it lovingly. He didn't notice the guy on the side of him, he nudged her hand greedy for another one. He was a magnificent beast up close and seemed gentle once you got past his fiery temper...

Robyn listened to the man and raised her eyebrows at this beast's history Oi you, just becuase Im your new friends doesnt mean you can boss me about. Be patient and polite and then Ill consider giving you another she spoke tapping the muzzle of the Arab before putting the packet of mints away. She turned her vision back onto the man Thanks. So, do you know how long he's been here for? she asked walking away from the stallion towards the bloke. She was comfortable in his presence and wanted him to know that being approached didnt always mean it was time to be captured

Khoal snorted and raised his head sharply from the tap. He snorted again and went to follow her towards the man but stopped just staring at the man, almost trying to stare him down. The man removed his hat and scratched his head. Almost a year now... 18 months on and off... folks just keep returning him because he goes wild with men... I reckon he had a bad past but we're not allowed to say that on the stand coz it puts folk off... I woulda bought the beauty myself if he didn't scream and kick at every cowboy around!

Robyn looked back at Khoal and sighed before looking at the man. Yeah, well I dont keep horses forever. I train them and cure their habits or problems. Then once theyre calm and at ease I sell them again to good people and good homes. If your lucky, I might sell him to you. Though it may be some years. He wont get over his fear overnight. Anyway, you accept cheques right? I cant exactly pay 10,000 in cash... Robyn replied taking out her cheque book and pen from her rucksack. Do I make it out to you? she asked as she wrote the amount in numbers and words and wrote down the date and signed it

The man shook his head. Make it out to Kenn Dod, Ill pass it onto him. He's busy selling off another Stallie at the minute. He looked over at the stallion who was quietly and elgantly nibbling an outstretched hind-pin. Shame you're thinking of selling him... that's the calmest I've seen him since he got here! I think he's taking to you, I bet he'll be a good ride... definately Dressage with that conformation huh?

Robyn wrote out the name and tore the cheque off and handed it to the man. She put then pen and book back in her bag and looked back at the stallion I guess he will. He certinly can move. I'll see. Ive never kept a horse, my father was a dealer but we'll see. If oyu dont see me back here with him in 6 years than Ive kept him she smiled before putting her bag back on and walking back over to Khoal. She held out her hand and stroked him again. Okay boy, lets go She slipped the haltar on gently, buckling it up so it was tight enough ot control him but loose enough for comfort. Right then Khoal, lets go for a good walk and get to know each other she left the haltar on Khoal but let the lead rein dangle over his neck. She did not want to force him to walk where he did not want to. Robyn walked up to the fence, where she opened it and walked out waiting for Khoal. Most of the humans had gone now taking great interest in the stallion that was on bid in the other arena. It wouldnt be long before this one would be full again. Finally Robyn said good bye to the man and walked on the path that left the auction site. She kept looking back to see Khoal following her. Obviously it seemed he did not like that place at all. So, why the hatred for men Khoal? Experienced bad things is it? she spoke standing by the path which led out onto the road. Im afriad you and I are going to have to walk. I dont own a trailer or car she replied taking the rein off of Khoal's neck and walking with him onto the road. Dont worry though, I know a nice path that leads to the stable I work at. I quite like it there. Friendly place, plenty of other horses. I think you'll settle down alright. At least I hope you will. So far Ive only met on bloke. His name's Micheal. Nice guy and hes got a really cute smile. Still, I dont think Ill be hooking up with him anytime, I work with his sister and it would be kind of weird Robyn spoke to Khoal as if he was a human and could understand every single word she said. Of course he didnt understand her, but her voice would be a comfort instead of silence and the faint noise of traffice and the shouts from the auctions

Khoal let her place on his halter and watched her opening the gate. He trotted out the gate, tail flailed behind him as if he was rushing to escape before they closed the gate again. Once he was out of the bars, he looked back at Rob and waited his new owner... well he might get another mint! He let her remove the leadrope from his back and he walked silently by her side to the secret path she mumbled about. He didn't understand words to be exact but he knew in the calmness of her voice that everything would be okay. His head bobbed up and down with their matching movements. He was glad to get out that place once and for all!

Robyn put her hand on Khoal's neck and on his mane line Maybe I could use you for breeding? You look stunning enough to attract any mare, though your manners could do with some adjusting. For starters we need to get you over this fear of men. I wonder if you act the same with boys? Well, Im sure I'll find out. But you got to help me out too you know. Put some effort into it. Honestly now Khoal I wont make you do anything that put you in danger she replied. She waited and made sure the road was clear before crossing it and going into a field which was where one of the paths could be accessed. I think you deserve another treat seeing as you havnt tried to run away from me she spoke taking out the peppermints again and popping one into her hand and handing it to Khoal's muzzle. Gently now and take your time its not a race Robyn out the mints back in her pocket. Seem to have a fetish for mints dont you. Perhaps its their refreshing taste that you love so much. They certinly give you a wake up call. Maybe thats why your so lively. An overdose of mints! she giggled. When was the last time you had some fun? Go on, this field belong to the people I work with so it'll be okay Robyn unhooked the rope and let Khoal go. Off you go then, gp and have a silly 5 minutes she smiled pushing Khoal's neck and clicking her tongue Once she gave him a little nudge she began running herself. She couldnt go very fast becuase she had her rucksack on which jungled and cluncked as she ran and jumped slightly[/size]

Khoal's ears pricked up as her hand rustled in her pocket and pulled out a mint. He Took it in his lips and crunched on it happily as he walked by her side. HIs ears remained pricked as she led him to a field and freed him from the rope. He looked back at her before leaping up in the air and starting at a brisk canter, tail as a flagpole. He swung his head around snorting, enjoying the sweet air and soft grasses. He loked back at Robyn who was running slowly behind. He whinnied at her, suggesting a game of chase.

Oh yeah you love it. Bet you havnt had this in a long time she breathed as she half jogged half ran behind Khoal. So far Khoal seemed like the perfect horse. He wasnt mean or stubborn, nor was he overdominant or arrogant. Perhaps it would be an easy task to rid him of his fear. Of course Robyn knew it would take time but it wouldnt take much effort. First Khoal needed to be happy in the presence of children both male and female and then comfortable with teenage boys and then gradually older boys and then men. It was a case of Black Beauty in a way. Learning to trust, then coming face to face with betrayl before learning to trust again. In the end Robyn knew Khoal would accept the world and learn not all men were pigs. I cant exactly run as fast as you, handsome. For starters your not carrying anything plus you have four longer legs! she smiled. She glanced at her watched and gasped a little. Oops, I should be at the yard in 10 minutes! I got to start working with Bukefalos and I dont want to give the impression Im lazy and crap at keeping time! Come on Khoal, I think we're going to have to put our game on hold for now
[ooc]I will start a new thread at Emerald Hill Barn for us[/ooc]

Khoal waited for Rob to catch up slightly before galloping off, tail still held high. He cantered a few strides before seeing her stop. He trotted over and nudged her in an attempt of "Do we have to?" in so many unspoken words. He snorted - as a human sigh - and let her put the lead rope back on and lead him to his new home...
((No problem))
